Painterly portraits stitched over photographs by Yoon Ji Seon Posted: 13 Nov 2014 09:00 PM PST Korean artist Yoon Ji Seon creates portraits by stitching over photographs using a sewing machine. The photographs get completely covered under multiple layers of thread. The stitching is done loosely and has loose threads hanging from them to create a painterly effect. Parts of face are often obscured creating a new identity similar to masks. The multiple layers of the artwork follows the Buddhist theory that there is no one true form instead an object occurs in multiple forms. Yoon Ji Seon has MFA from Hannam University, Korea. Yoon has won several awards and her works has been exhibited at many galleries in Korea. |
