In his series titled Golden Years, Santa Monica advertising photographer Dean Bradshaw depicts elderly athletes leading an active lifestyle with zest.

A muted color scheme, clothing from decades past and vibrant facial expressions deliver a vintage feel with fresh attitude. Silver-haired women wearing '80s-era aerobics outfits grapple on a wrestling mat and strain to pump iron. White-mustached men pose menacingly on a basketball court and talk up their game sitting on the bleachers.

As seen in Golden Years, Bradshaw's work leverages colorful characters in larger-than-life situations.

"I enjoy immersing viewers in imagery that takes them into a world outside the ordinary, with a little bit of mystery thrown in for good measure," he said on his website.
