Shae DeTar paints over printed vintage photographs creating colorful images vibrating with new life. She manages to preserve the aged feel of the images in spite of using bright psychedelic colors with a modern approach.

Hand painting of photographs was prevalent before the invention of color photography. Photographers would manually color printed photographs or negatives to add more realism.

New york based fashion photographer Shae DeTar initially began her career as a model before switching to photography.
